THE MEETING


Once, in twilight compassion
A Visionary travelled to heaven
And He met with the One
Who is seen yet unseen
And He gave Him the keys to perdition.

The covenant completed
The Dove at the ready
As mankind just marveled and wept,
For the One who had recently
Walked in their midst
Was the Keeper of all that is kept.

"I have done what We all had agreed to
I have loved You to death on a tree
I have served You with all of My being
So that they who We made could be free."

"Now tell Me, oh kind blessed Father
What there may be undone or not right
For to love You with all of My being
Is My God-given joy and delight."

"REST, MY BLESSED SON JESUS.
LAY DOWN YOUR EARTH-CRUSTED GARB.
YOU ARE THE KING OF ALL HEAVEN
AND TO YOU THEY WILL WORSHIP AND BOW."

"YOU HAVE DONE ALL THAT EVER COULD BE DONE
IF THEY LOVE YOU, THEN SURELY THEY'RE BLESSED,
BUT THE ONES WHO HAVE SPURNED
WHAT YOU READILY OFFERED
HAVE FAILED THE ULTIMATE TEST."

He never asked us to do the impossible
Nor expect us to live without sin
Won't you see Him, my friend for the Christ who He is
And allow Him this day to come in.
