Disappointment is a word that has no friends because no one loves it notwithstanding the popular saying that "Every disappointment is a blessing in disguise." Anyone who has been disappointed once will never love a repeat of it. Disappointment has sniffed life out of many people in that they could not handle it well. In many other cases, it has made some lives desolate; only very few people live to tell sweet story of their disappointment.

Do you know what? I had my own personal share of disappointment, this is not the direct issue here today.

Now let's consider the story of a popular man of God from the Holy Bible to bring out the "beauty" of disappointment. His name is David, who became king over the nation of Israel after king Saul.

As a young man, he had the common hope of having a young lady as wife one day. This hope seemed it will be better fulfilled when king Saul wanted David to become his son~in~law:
"Here is my older daughter Merab, I will give her to you as a wife." 1 Samuel 18:17

However, this young man's first love life was wounded by the initiator because at the time when Merab should have been given to David as wife, she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as wife. (1 Samuel 18:19).
Am sure that powerless David was shocked to his bone marrow at that. The most powerful in the land of Israel at the time exercised his power as a father and King, there was nothing David could do to change the situation. He resigned to fate, linking and nursing his wounds.

Do you want to know the blessing in that disappointment? Read further!

The Lord who is the Alpha and Omega did not want David's future children to be propitiation for the wrongdoing of their would~be maternal grandfather.

How?

During the reign of David as King over Israel, after Saul, there was a famine in the land year after year for three years. After a thorough inquiry from the Lord as to the cause of the famine, it was revealed that it was because of King Saul's wrong zeal by which he killed certain Gibeonites who were inhabitants of the land spared on oath by Joshua, a leader of God's people after Moses.

When King David asked them (the Gibeonites) what they wanted him to do for the famine to cease in the land, their reply was,
"As for the man who consumed us and plotted against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the territories of Israel, let seven men of his descendants be delivered to us, and we will hang them before the Lord in Gilbea of Saul, whom the Lord choose." 2 Samuel 21:5~6(a~d).

King David's answer was, "I will give them." verse 6e.

Among the seven descendants delivered, five sons of Meriab, the daughter of Saul, whom she had for Adriel the Meholathite, were included.

Can you see the kindness of God to David in allowing him to be disappointed in his youth days/years? What do you think he would have done if Merab had those five sons for David?

Have you been disappointed recently? Cheers! The Lord knows the dangers that are ahead which He wants to avoid/eliminate in your life. He is doing you good, although you may not understand it now, for which you will praise Him later. For you to accept this simple truth, this
Bible verse ought to be well rooted in your heart and you must act on it:
"And we know that all things work together for good
to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.

Do you love God? Are you sure you have been called according to His purpose? Then, can you agree with Him and believe His assurance? He says,
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord,
thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
Only believe His words! When you are disappointed, do not be bitter, you will be better for it. Cleave to the Lord!
Stay blessed and rapturable because the Lord is coming soon.
