For Those Who Are Thirsty…

(Isaiah 44:3 & 4)

“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground.  I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.  They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses.” (NKJV)

This message carries a double blessing.  It is a Word from the Father not only for you but for your descendants as well, hallelujah!  God pours out His Spirit without measure (John 3:34) but there is a condition – you have to be thirsty!  If you are longing for more of the things of the Kingdom, for more of Heaven, this is such good news!  God is making you a promise – that you are heading for a really awesome time!

For those who are thirsty: I believe that we can go to ever higher levels in the realms of God when we stay hungry and thirsty (spiritually).  God is infinite and He lives in the never ending realms of Eternity so there is absolutely no limit to how much we can have of all the awesomeness of who He is.  Remember how Jesus said “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6)?  The more you hunger and thirst, the more you will be filled.   It is very simple: the more you feed, the more you need, and the more you need, the more you will be filled.  In the physical realm, I have found that whenever I have had a few days of eating more than I normally do, I also get much hungrier than I normally do.  This is because any appetite that is fed, grows.  The same can be applied to our spiritual life.  Each time we feed our spirit with the Word, and draw near into the presence of God through worship, we increase our capacity for the things of heaven.  The more we have of Him, the more we need, hallelujah!  Today the Lord is calling you into deeper intimacy with Him.  He wants you to come to Him thirsty so that you can be filled.  He promises that the healing waters of the Holy Spirit, the spirit of Wisdom and Revelation will be poured out upon you.  A container cannot really be called full until it overflows, and this is what God is promising us – an overflow of His sweet presence!  He promises floods on the dry ground, more of the presence of God than you ever asked for or imagined!

A promise for your children.  The River never stops flowing!  God’s covenant blessings are not just for us but for our generations.  Our own desire and pressing in for the glory of God activates a heavenly dimension for those who come behind us.  This applies not only to biological sons and daughters but to spiritual ones as well.  They are able to own our blessing and breakthrough because they are the offspring and heirs God blessed us with.   Psalm 1 verses 2 and 3 speak about the people who love the Lord and His Word, and that they will be like trees “planted by the rivers of water that bring forth fruit in season, whose leaf shall not wither.”  We are told that they shall prosper in whatever they do!  Willow trees flourish when planted near water, and this is the picture we are given - of tall, strong, solid green trees that know how to draw up water from deep sources, trees that provide shade and shelter for those who need because they live beside the River.  This is such a wonderful promise, and it is for you and me and our posterity!  There are different kinds of tall, lush grass that grow by the rivers but the willows are bigger and stronger than any of the vegetation beside the water.  This is what Abba is promising for His children and their children – distinction, favor, fulfillment, and the strength and grace that flows from His presence as long as we drink. 

Dear friend, receive these words today for yourself and the children God has given you, both spiritual and physical.  Maybe your (physical) kids are not with the Lord right now, but His covenant blessings are just about to flow into their lives, and one day soon they will be thirsty and crying out for the Living Water.  They are the inheritors of all the wonderful things that have been poured on your life and the Lord is going to flood the dry ground with the power of His presence!  Let us believe it and expect it to come to pass.  “Let Me pour My living waters on the thirsty ground of your heart.  Let Me fill you with My Spirit and give you a new start.  My waters are eternal and not for your thirst alone. They are for all the hungry ones you have not even known.  My love crosses every border and conquers every fear.  Let Me overflow you with My presence and show you that I am here”!  Ask for more and stay thirsty.  Expect the outpouring and the overflow.  It is for you!
