According to His Word

(Luke 1:38)

Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word”.

These words are from the popular passage of Scripture often studied during the Advent season. Today they come from the heart of a Father who speaks good things over His children and wants His kids to agree with Him.  Perhaps you look back over this past year with some disappointment because you may not have seen the word of the Lord fulfilled in your life.   It is not too late to call forth the things that were declared for you and for this year, or to roll them over into the new year!

When the angel spoke to Mary and told her about the birth of Jesus and how it would happen, she must have been anxious and confused and may have had a number of questions in her heart.  Suddenly a world of possibilities was opening up to her and it is likely that none of them felt comfortable to her.  However, despite all the surprise and uncertainty, Mary had no doubt that this was a messenger from Heaven, and a carrier of a word from the Lord.  Her family had always served Yahweh and knew Him as the One who provided manna in the wilderness and water in the desert.  God had never failed her family, and her young heart knew no reason to distrust the One she had grown up loving and worshiping.  When Mary said to the angel: “Behold the maidservant of the Lord”, she was yielding herself to the plan of Heaven.  She was aligning herself with the heart of God.  I believe that the Lord never forces His will on His children, and when we align ourselves with His heart, we step into His favor, and we set ourselves up for the fulfilment of His awesome and beautiful plans.  We enter into partnership with Him, and this is the first step to seeing the promises of the Lord actualized in our lives.  Mary aligned herself with heaven!  Mary was saying to God “Here I am; I believe this is from You.  I believe it is what You want, and I am willing and ready at this time for whatever you want to do”.  There is no limit to what the Holy Spirit can do in and through our lives when we step into partnership with Him and align our hearts with His!

When Mary said “Let it be to me according to your word”, she came into agreement with the Word that was spoken over her life.  Agreement is powerful!  We know that heaven backs agreement because Jesus promised that when two or more of us pray in agreement, the Father answers our prayers, and when we gather in agreement, He manifests His presence (Matthew 18:19 & 20).  Psalm 133 talks about the heavenly anointing that is released when there is unity amongst the people of God.  Heaven is all about the unity and agreement between the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit, and this power from heaven is manifested and displayed on the earth when the children of God seek Him in unity and agree with what He says, hallelujah!  Mary agreed with God’s Word.

As we move towards the close of another year, the Holy Spirit is calling us into alignment with God and into agreement with His Word.  Here’s what we are meant to do when we receive a prophetic word:

1) We submit to the voice of God, and receive what is spoken.  We believe!

2) We agree.  When we agree with what is being declared, the divine power of agreement is immediately activated and God’s declaration begins to take on a spiritual life of its own.  On the other hand, unbelief aborts the seed of life that is waiting to take root in a spiritual womb. When we take the Word lightly and do not honor it as from our Father, we reduce it to something powerless and lifeless, and we cut off its growth and manifestation.  Our declaration is normally an expression of what we are agreeing with, whether good or bad.  Many of us are awaiting the fulfilment of a word of healing, or financial restoration, or the healing of a family situation but we have to first break our agreement with statements made by doctors or others around us, who are not aligned with God or with His will for our lives.  Every time we confess what is contrary to the Word of God, we are standing in agreement with something other than the powerful and positive prophecy of the Lord which is a life filled seed waiting to explode with infinite power from within your spirit. 

If you feel this Word is applicable to you, it would be good to 1) Repent before God for agreeing with the wrong word and cancel the agreement with infirmity, allergies, disappointment, betrayal, poverty, etc.  2) Acknowledge that God is good and has good plans for you, and align yourself with His heart for you. 3) Think of the words which were given to you this year and receive them afresh into your heart.  Declare your belief in His promises. 4) Agree with His Word for you and declare it as a reality which you are calling forth from the spiritual realm into the physical. 5) Remember Patience and prayer!  Wait for your miracle to come through and do not get tired and give up.  Stand on the Word of God and remind Him frequently as you pray into it.  You can say “Father You said….” 6) Prophetic words are given because they are a statement of your life and future as God sees it.  They have to come to pass.  The enemy tries his best to discourage and deter you and to tell you that it can never become a reality but while you are waiting, you can always remind the enemy (and yourself) that God is bringing to fulfillment what He spoke.  Your prophecy can become your weapon of warfare as you wait in faith and expectation.  The prophet Kim Clement has a song which sounds something like this:  “God sees you in the future and you look much better than you look right now”! 

Precious child, please know and believe that I have good plans for you.  Receive My promises into your heart and walk in them, and you will see things turn out very differently in the coming year. You will be setting yourself up for miracles!  This day I break your every agreement with darkness, with the voice of the world and of the devil.  I declare the power of the Holy Spirit upon you now to fill you with a revelation of My purposes and plans for you.  I am enabling you to see and agree with My vision for you as I call it forth into fruition in your life.  

God’s voice and His promises are a mighty and powerful force because they come out of His mouth and can never return to Him void.  Let it be to you according to God’s eternal living Word today and always, in Jesus’ mighty name, amen!
