Add Patience to Faith

2 Pet 1:5-7
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

Halleluya!

The word patience is described as;
- The quality of being patient.
- Content to wait if necessary; not losing one's temper while waiting.
- Constant in pursuit or exertion; persevering; calmly diligent.
- Patient endeavour due to patient thought.
- Physically able to suffer or bear.

This is what Apostle Peter admonishes us to Add ...epichoregeo..gk, meaning ...to furnish besides, ...fully supply, ...aid, ...contribute, ...add, ...minister, to your faith, patience.

In other words, contribute and fully supply to your faith, patience, to hold on to God's Word of promise. Grow your faith and make it strong.

Faith is not transferable but it must arise out of each person's heart. Therefore give all diligence to add to your faith.

How?

By hearing more of God's Word because faith is produced from hearing.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom 10:17

As faith is produced in your heart, we are called upon to your add patience to your faith. Patience ...hupomone..gk, meaning ...cheerful or hopeful endurance, ...constancy, ...endurance, ...patience, ...patient continuance or waiting.

Your Faith ...pistis..gk, which means ...persuation, ...moral conviction of the truthfulness of God, ...reliance upon Christ for salvation, ...constancy in such profession, ...assurance, ...belief, ...believe, ...faith, ...fidelity,.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1

In other words, faith is reliance on the Word of promise from God which cannot lie or change and Holding on to the truthfulness of God's Word and constancy in such profession.

This faith which is of man's spirit and its response to the Word of God and reliance on the Word of promise, we have to add patience.

As we travel on the high way of life, your faith in God and His Word will be tested. Your life's journey will face both good and bad times. With each situation God never changes and He is looking at you whether you will hold on to the truthfullness of God's Word and have constancy in your profession to honour God before men.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Ps 37:7

Add Patience ...hupomone..gk, the cheerful or hopeful endurance or the patient continuance or waiting to your faith and be able to stand when the evil day arrives on you. It is a cheerful endurance because you know that you know that you know God is working the answer in His own time which is always best.

To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: Rom 2:7

Faith with impatience is no faith and that impatience will lead you into temptation and sin.

Minister to your faith with patience to be Content to wait if necessary and not losing one's temper while waiting.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Heb 10:36

In the pursuit of our heavenly Father and heavenly things we must have the patience to be Constant in pursuit or exertion, persevering in the fight of faith and be calmly diligent.

And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. 2 Thes 3:5

That challenge or trouble or situation must not impair you but improve your faith in God. Be determined to dig deep and fight it through knowing Jesus is with you.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Jas 1:3-4

Build up the quality of being patient with God and neighbor in the face of adversity and resist the temptation of falling prey to Satan's bait.

In your patience possess ye your souls. Lk 21:19

Be calmly diligent in the fight of faith refusing to be desperate to live for bread alone but by every Word of God on the good ground of your heart building up your most holy faith with patience.

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. Lk 8:15
