Learn As You Live

Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life.

Live and learn, but more importantly, learn and live—that is a motto a person might consider if they wish to live happily as well as successfully. Consider these steps for a happy life as expressed by Andrew Carnegie, a successful industrialist of the 19th century: First, know yourself; Second, know what you ought to do. Third, know what you need to do to get yourself motivated to accomplish your task or tasks.

All around every person are contributing lessons to the above recommendations. Recognize lessons may be learned from the literate and illiterate; from the young and old; from family, friends and, yes, even your opponents/enemies. There exists lessons in success and failure; in remembering and forgetting; in happiness and sorrow; in smiles and tears; in comfort and pain; in victory and defeat. There exists no question with respect to the teacher of life. What about the student?


Prayer:

Almighty Father grant me a grateful heart. Help me, Father, to live joyfully and in peace with the knowledge that You are in control of all things and events. Give me the strength to learn from your moments of happiness as well as the trials You send me to teach and strengthen me for my life’s journey with You. I pray these things in the Name of Your most Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
