Despite the commotion

Sometimes we perceive situations in our lives as dead buried, beyond redemption. We look around us and our circumstances seem to be wailing loudly, crying out, and grieving at what would have been but has suddenly slipped away. Sometimes it’s an aged battle, like the woman with the issue of blood; 12 years of suffering, every remedy exhausted, every physician consulted and every penny spent seeking the solution. Alienated and despised, embarrassed by her condition she was left for dead. But then she heard of Jesus, ha! And despite the commotion of the crowd she pressed in believing in her heart that whatever was impossible with every physician she had ever consulted, every remedy she had ever tried, was possible with this one man named Jesus. Her faith high, pressing past the commotion she reached out with a touch full of faith and seeped the healing power out of the Healer.  

He turned back feeling her faith and the power of the healing transmitted through this woman’s faith and asked “Who touched me?” Amazed by this statement and consumed by the commotion and unaware that despite the commotion someone’s faith had brought results;  the disciples asked “what do you mean who touched you? Look at the crowd, everyone is touching you.” But Jesus knew the touch of faith; He felt the virtue flow out of Him. Despite the commotion someone had touched Him! And guess what? They had received their breakthrough! Despite the commotion her faith had made her whole and a 12 year condition was fixed!

Then came the reports from Jairus’ house saying trouble not the master, your daughter is dead; the same daughter that Jesus was on his way to attend to but was seemingly delayed by the woman with the issue of blood. But the reporter’s version was different from Jesus’ version, the girl was just asleep! Again he passed though the commotion of those who wept loudly and said “why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, she is just sleeping!”  They ridiculed Him, but He focused on the situation at hand and the mission at hand. He pressed through the commotion and brought Jairus’ daughter back to life with a single phrase! “Talitha cumi, (little girl I say to you arise)” and immediately she came forth. Despite the commotion, despite the delays, for someone else despite the length of the condition, one touch, one phrase brought breakthrough and both situations had one man in common: JESUS!

So the next time you look around and are overwhelmed by the commotion of dead situations in your life,  the “delays” and prolonged conditions, remember JESUS is able to move past the commotion, remember that even death answerable to Him and remember that delays are accelerated in a moment at Jesus’ command! I pray you will touch Him with your faith, past the negative reports, past the circumstance and despite the commotion, to the truth of His power!
