The fleetingness of life

When I close my eyes regardless of how many years I have lived here on earth, I want to stand on the other side in front of my Father, beside my Saviour and be presented as a faithful daughter; a faithful daughter who completed the assignment assigned by her Father. I don’t want to stand as a daughter who forgot her assignment, or one who performed momentary tasks when convenient. I don’t want to stand before my Father as a daughter who sometimes felt inconvenienced by her His instructions, to the benefit of the popularity and the appeasement of mere mortals. I don’t want to stand before my Father as a daughter who preferred to live life as a recipient of the luxuries of a fleeting moment called life in exchange for the weight of glory of a crown of eternal life.

 I want to be about my Father’s business, like my brother Jesus did and walk worthy of my calling. I want to live like a soldier, sold out for my country the New Jerusalem, the place called heaven, not entangled by civilian affairs, ready to die for the cause to which I have been called and admitted to the heavenly army. Not only a soldier but a warrior, not hiding away behind the ranks of my fellow soldiers but amongst the front line advancing fully armed with the armour of God, charging with the sword of the word, advancing with the shoes called readiness to proclaim my Father’s word. Not afraid of the darts of the enemy for I have a breastplate of righteousness and the shield of faith. My head, my mind and my thoughts fully covered with the helmet of salvation, my waist made strong by His truth, not the truth spread by civilians, those not kingdom minded, those freely passing by life with no duty to a greater kingdom but the truth secured in His word.

In any present moment I want to stand ready and stand sure of who I am, what I represent and what I am called to do. I want to live worthy of my calling not only on Sunday or when I am around the brethren but every day; in the closet of my thoughts, in the engine room of my passions and energies and in my daily pursuits and actions, I want to fulfil my Father’s will. So I pray, may I not just pass by this earth, may I not be a fleeting breathe, living and dying leaving heaven’s purposes unfulfilled but may I make a mark for heaven here on earth with anything and everything I touch. If it takes sweat and blood let it be so, for I know the blood and sweat that ensured my victory was already shed, from the garden of gethsemane all the way to the hill of Calvary, my saviour ensured that I had a path to follow, an ethic to adopt, a method to emulate but most of all a victory to call on.

May I hear my Father say "well done, good and faithful servant, you took the talents, that which I put in you, that which I wired you to do, you found it and used it to multiply my kingdom. You were my hands, my feet, my mouthpiece, you were the love I desired to show to my sons and daughters, you were the one who stood in the gap for generations, for marriages, for nations and ultimately for my bride. You spread my nature where ever you went and I was visible on earth because of your life, now enter in for your mansion awaits and the crowns are lined up!"
