In fact, some of the greatest characters in the bible have transgressed against God, like David king of Israel who committed adultery with Bathsheba, and had her husband murdered. He allowed his passion for her to get the best of him to the point where he had to have her, at whatever cost. Besides David, there are many more in both the New and the Old Testament who have sinned against God.

Although, we have been redeemed through the blood of Jesus, our natural man (the flesh) is still at work within us, to tempt us into doing things that are against the will of God - “For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would” (Galatians 5:17).

However, this is not an excuse to deliberately make a living of practicing sin. The Apostle John encourages the church with these words - "My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (I John 2:1).

A man who has truly been born again does not practice sin as a way of life. Even if he is overtaken by temptation, he does not continue in it to deliberately transgress against God as a way of life. The man who does this displays evidence that he has not been regenerated with a new heart and a right spirit (Psalms 51:10). But, if a man says he loves God, why would he deliberately turn his face to God, and go against His will? - "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15).
