At church, yesterday, many emotions flooded in which, sometimes, do not appear because there is a tendency to ignore them, or take them for granted when they DO. But yesterday, they would NOT be denied a place of prominence in my consciousness.

As I sat and listened to the message, and heard the familiar songs, I realized how the human race was created to fellowship with God....at THIS level! To enjoy THIS KIND of relationship! It came to mind how a universe was created with humans in mind and that humans have been given dominion over it. The water, the air we breathe, the soil from which we harvest resources....EACH created for the benedit of mankind. EACH a contributing factor in rising from bed on a clear Sunday morning to find our way to the worship edifice of choice.

Next, I recalled the GRACE of the Father that called for the sacrifice of the Son, so that the plan of salvation could be completed.....for the benefit of humanity. I remembered the 'great faithfulness' of the Master as EACH DAY He visits our estate with new and tender mercies. WE the unlovable, the undeserving are loved and ministered to by the GRACE of a sinless CREATOR and Savior.

Then the 'mechanics' of what is at hand, working in our behalf entered the picture. The fact of freedom that ALLOWS worship in the edifice of choice did not happen cheaply. A terrible price has been paid over the centuries of our national existence by patriots who considered the cause of freedom to be vital, and who sacrificed much in its preservation.

So....yesterday....at church, in the quiet simplicity of message and music, I had MY private service of elation as I recalled just three factors in the equation of life.....His Creation, His Grace and His Presence in the lives of ALL who have helped perpetuate and maintain the freedoms we enjoy.

The ONLY negative was when I realized how seldom I allow myself to be gripped by such magnificent concepts.....how infrequently I permit them to take over my thinking....even briefly. But....yesterday....at church, they propelled my spirit to a place of hunger....a place that challenges me to trust in the validity of THESE... to think of them more often and to purpose THEIR promotion in MY heart.
