Grief
'Three times I prayed to the Lord about this and asked him to take it away. But his answer was: "My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak"...' (2 Cor 12:8-9, GNB).
I recently sat down to analyse some of my behaviour patterns. Feeling a little broken, after that analysis, I switched on TBNUK to hear the song, "Tell your heart to beat again" by Danny Gokey. One stanza says:
We each have our story. Some are more painful than others. Sometimes we may feel like shutting down and shutting others out, dwelling on the wrong done to us and failing to keep moving forward. That's when the bitterness begins to take root. Don't let it control you my friends. Let the grieving run its natural course so that healing can take place and you can live a life of fullness. Just let your heart beat again.
I have a decision I need to make which some new friends have been trying to help me with. Each time I make a start in explaining my dilemma, I can see the confusion on their faces. That's because they don't know the full story behind me arriving to this point. My brain tells me I need to explain further but then I find myself straying from the original point, in order to bring clarity for my friends. I then talk myself out of sharing, in the event I give them the wrong impression and they in turn give the wrong advice.
I then leave feeling a little guilty for not opening my heart a little wider to let my new friends in. That's what happened recently which left me feeling a little down. It happens because of past experiences which left a trail of consequences I am having to deal with. I am trusting God for total deliverance in this area, however long it takes and whatever He has to take me through to get there.
However, at this point in time, it's a struggle which can easily hinder the flow of my blessings if handled inappropriately. Therefore, I need to ensure that the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) is indeed developing in me. Self-control is the segment I believe I am exercising when I stop sharing, knowing that if I continue speaking one of two things might happen:
I might end up in tears from what's causing those consequences to be activated. It wouldn't be the first time that has happened (it can be very embarrassing for me). From that moment of weakness, I can open the door to evil thoughts, giving Satan legal rights to use me.
If that happens, I will fall into the trap of gossip/slander or encourage those I'm sharing with to fall into said trap.
So, I'm sharing this with you for three reasons:
1: I wanted to share the song with those who are hurting and just need a little encouragement (see link to song at the end of article). Whatever you are struggling with today, we have a hope of a brighter future because He who created us is working on the process of transforming us from the inside. Hang in there! Allow the grieving to run its course so your heart can beat in tune with His heart again. Truly, His grace is sufficient for us.
2: Like Danny told his story through this song which came to help me move a step forward, tell your story, you never know how God will use it to bring healing to hurting souls.
3: If God has placed a burden on your heart to pray for hurting souls, this is an opportunity to remember the fatherless among you. This article was written by a fatherless child who wants to serve her Heavenly Father with her gifts, by reaching out to hurting souls. She desperately needs your prayers so that she will no longer have an irregular heart beat but that her heart will consistently beat in tune with His.
Please pray for focus and clarity. "For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance" (Philippians 1:19).
I now have a better understanding of Paul's struggle as related in 2 Cor 12:7-10.
Thank you to all who are already praying and to you who are about to answer the call. Your time interceding on behalf of others is appreciated. God hears the prayer of a righteous man and angels are despatched. Do not cease praying (1 Thes. 5:17) for 1 Cor 15:58 reassures us that nothing we do in the Lord's service is ever useless.
God bless you!
Your sister in Christ,
