Have you ever wondered why events in your life turn out a certain way? Why do some people seem to have easier lives than others?

One of our pastors died recently, and had been happily married for 63 years. I didn’t marry until I was in my forties and was widowed after less than six years. What made the difference in how our lives turned out?

My husband and I decided to join a home business opportunity selling air purifiers. We had limited success in spite of praying for guidance, working hard to promote our product, and being attentive to the needs of our customers. A business associate of ours joined the same home business and is now a millionaire many times over. All things seemed to be equal, so what made the difference?

The truth is that we will probably never know why God arranges things in the way He sees fit. I take comfort in the Bible verses found in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.”

Each of us has a divine purpose and we need to trust God that whatever the trials we may face, He is working out things for our ultimate good.
