Makings Of A Man (Woman)

So be strong, show yourself a man, and observe what the Lord Your God requires.

1 Kings 2:2-3 (NIV)


That man (woman) is a man (woman)! Not by chance, circumstance or birth, but life. Not for her/his statue, intelligence, beauty (handsomeness) but her/his integrity, honesty and heart. Gold does not seduce her/his hands; honors do not make her/him to run in panic; fear does not break her/his backbone; disappointment does not crush her/his heart; tears do not break her/his spirit.

He/she is a man (woman) day and night, in the light and in the dark, in prosperity and in adversity.

He/she has quality, and that—not pounds, not inches, not color, sexual prowess—makes a man (woman).

Her/his grandeur is in her/his ideals, her/his beliefs, values, practices—and there the world should apply the gauges. For the great hope of our society and world is in having more people like her/him.


Prayer:

Almighty Father, give us men and women with strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands. Men and women who possess honor, integrity and gracious hearts unafraid of criticism and critique. Men and women strong enough and willing to stand to evil, deceitfulness, lies, selfness without fear. Reward them with Your grace and power to speak and act on Your behalf. Be their protection against the evil one and his agents who prow about the world seeking the ruin of Your elect and the hearts and soul humankind. Amen.
