Turning From The Light

These ghosts
How do they know
They know not where I go
Yet they are there when I show
Asleep in my bed
They enter into my head
When I go out
They let out a shout…we are about
I run as fast as I can
I find them faster than I am
I pray for release
I pray for eternal peace
Just when I’m free
They know just where to find me
I rise to the highest heights
I rise to be close to the light
Tiring of flying so high
My fall brings me back to the lie
I try and turn my gaze
They are there when I peer thru the haze
Trying so hard to close my eyes
My mind’s eye she opens wide
I cry out to the heavens
Is there no peace to me here given
So many times I turn away
Only to go back to them one day
Have I committed a double wrong
My ghosts still sing their sweet love song
Why do I listen
Why do they glisten…sooo!
They draw me near
With just a whisper in my ear
I bow my head in shame
I know too well their sinful game
They know me too…all too well
I fear they will follow me straight to hell
I long to be known by another
Someone who knows me like no other
I have called His name before
Many…many…times before
I bolt for the open door
Hoping to get there finally once more
The light that shone in the darkness
The light goes dim as I…hearken
To the ghosts calling from the night
Once again…I’m turning from the light
