God Can You


God…Can You hear me
Can a sinner like me be heard
I have made many prayers
Are my hands full of Your blood
Is there no answer for me

God…Can You see me
Are Your eyes not in every place
Have You hidden Your eyes from me
Have I not followed Your way
Did Your seed not fall on good ground

God…Can You feel me
The anguish in my mind
The bitterness in my soul
Only my heart knows the whole of it
The world knows none of my distress

The hardened know none of this bitterness
There is no distress of the heart
No shame or confusion of the soul
No self-loathing…No inner groaning
No joy unspeakable…No view of a pardon

It is the joyful sound of Your grace
Your Word reaching my ears and my heart
A true revelation of my Savior’s grace
My sins stoned for like Stephen
My sins bled for by a Stranger

What a glorious sound is Your work of grace
No longer a stranger to Your righteousness
No longer a stranger to Your Godliness
What a work has been done on my ears to hear
What a work has been done on my eyes to see

What a work of grace has been done on my crushed spirit
To then be buried…Raised…Carried by grace
To feel God’s Love in my heart
To see the plague of it healed
To know nothing can take it from me
