It's a direct line of fire.
A bright light cascading through a dense fog that fills the air.
The drummer lays his heavy foot repeatedly on the pedal, forcing a rhythm that beats perfectly in line with every heart in the room.
I stand there, in the center of it all, with my head held at a tilt.
This isn't a lost moment, or a memory that I will cherish in some time.
This is an army preparing for battle in the only way we know how.
By filling our hearts with gratitude toward the sacrifice He made.
I see in front of me, on the ground near the stage, the single most shocking thing.
A boy, usually full of confidence and grace, down on his knee because he knows he doesn't compare.
Music is lifted as lights flash.
My eyes are closed but I don't miss a thing.
The guitar slows down and the voices fade.
As I open my eyes, slowly releasing a trail of tears, I see an outline equal to that of branches glistened by passing headlights.
My fingers, extended into the busy air, pierce the blinding light traveling behind them.
Just as soon as my hands extend, I feel an apparent restriction, yet not a limitation.
My feet, once free to move, feel as if they are nailed to the ground.
I stand there humbled that I could feel this.
Within the grasp of my two raised hands, I feel a third and fourth pressure between my fingers.
Not a hand of reality, nor a figment of my imagination, but an overwhelming confirmation of
His presence.

...and that was only the first song of the night.
