Application May Overcome Dominance

The king’s mission was urgent.

1 Samuel 21: 8 (NIV)

If success occurs, ordinarily it is due to the initiative of the individual doing the hard work; and, in most instances, it will require more work than just going through the motion or ordinary effort.

Mediocrity wins over superiority when superiority is absent from the mix.

A little talent coupled with persistence and much application generally excels in most activities. This is substantiated especially in sports, in particular. How often do we observe teams with the least talent defeat teams with immensely more talent? What least talented teams that win have to do is to apply their talent with more persistence, with decisively fewer errors and flawless execution.

This leaves the avenues to success open to all—a little difficult for some of us, but it is open for those willing to accept challenges.



Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I pray that I may be successful in Your eyes. Give the wisdom to pray constantly for Your guidance, to be aware of Your mercies and patient and worthy of the outcomes You see fit to grant me. I may have courage to turn to You even when harassed by those who are of the world who scoff at You and the goodness You display. I pray these things in Your Most Holy Name. Amen.
