When You feel so far away
That I even start to wonder if You hear me as I pray
I can't help but feel forsaken, but I can't forget Your word
I think on Your promises, but sometimes even then
It no longer feels like I'm living under grace

In moments of despair, when my heart is found in pain
I can't help but wonder if my Lord is even there
You said You'd be my comforter
But as I'm calling on You I can hardly hear You answer
I've grown numb to Your voice because I'm so broken-hearted
But I thought that You could fix that, why do I still feel the pain?

When feeling oh so ashamed
After a transgression that has left me feeling so condemned
So much so that I could hardly dare call on Your name
I know I've grieved the Holy Spirit
And the perceived magnitude of whatever sin I just committed
Has somehow made me forget that Your grace is sufficient, even at this moment
But instead it has left me feeling utterly defeated

But see forget all these emotions
Cause when I'm reading through the scriptures
They remind what is true,
The heart's wicked and deceitful
So regardless what I'm feeling
Even on a rainy day
I will never lose my faith
Because You said You're here to stay
