If Only You'd Listen

If only you'd listen, you'd hear something useful
Something to touch you, something to move you
Some words of comfort for all that you've been through
If only you'd listen, then I could remind you,
That just as I said, I will never forsake you.

If only you'd listen, you'd know how I hate to
Watch you enslaved by a world that mistreats you
Watch you 'hang-out' with those friends that corrupt you
Watch you enjoy life, without Me, the One who designed you

If only you'd listen, you'd know how it hurts Me
To hear you sing songs with lyrics that curse Me
To watch you do things that you know are against Me
Then turn to the world, saying, "God alone can judge me."

If only you'd listen you'd know what's at stake
Life in My presence or the fiery lake
And then you would know that this life that you're chasing,
Is nothing compared to My grace and My mercy

If only you'd listen, you'd know that the cost
Of this life you're living, is eternal loss
Though you might succeed, even make it on Forbes
After you die, all your riches are lost
Likewise your eternity
Because you refused to accept Christ's death on the cross

If only you'd listen, you'd know these are the last days
That no matter how many times you kneel down and pray
No matter how times you go to your church
All this alone won't get you to heaven
Unless you repent and believe in the Gospel
Unless you repent, and be born again

I constantly hear you say only God can judge you
You're right, but where will you go when I do?
When you're on the judgement seat and your testimony is due?
And I judge you, according to your faith and your works
And I judge you, for every careless word that you've said
When you give account of your whole life before Me
And I determine where you will spend eternity

If only you'll listen, you'll make the right decision
You'll stop depending on your own futile wisdom
Instead you will turn, and you'll seek first My kingdom
And just as I promised, I'm going to forgive you
I'm faithful and true, and I'll be there to hold you
May you rest assured, I'll be there to love you

You see, there's just one thing I ask you to do
Before forgetting your lusts and your dreams
Before surrendering your life unto Me
Before even turning from the smallest of sin
Just for one second, I urge you....to listen...
