I was thinking this morning of small children and color books and crayons...and how frustrated they would get when they tried to color inside the lines...and what a difference it made when you give that child plain paper instead of the book...and watch the exuberance and joy at the colors and lines they create when there are no lines to constrain them...and it reminds me of our love.

With our love, God didn't give us a color-book with pictures already defined, expecting us to just fill them in with color...no..... in His wisdom, He gives us each day a brand-new shiny paper with no lines...a day just started - that He gives us the freedom to fill as we like...and oh, what a profusion of crayons He pours into our laps!

Each day begins with the designs and colors as we decide.... the picture we draw doesn't need to take on any shape another decides, or use colors that others think are right...we are so free to express our love for one another as we like...using all the crayons God gives us...splashes of red - for our two hearts joined as one.... the red for all the vibrant love and life in our relationship - joyous scribbles all over the page!

The blue of joy and hopes.... these drawn in other directions...some colored dark, others pastel...a rainbow of joy in all the shades of hope.... the blues fill the page.... patches of yellow.... for sunshine and happiness.... peeking out from all the corners of the page.... for our love is bounded on all sides with this golden color.

In all the small nooks and crannies of the design are unexpected little doodles and dots ...green for the gift of a special smile.... pink for the sweet touch of your hand...purple for the strong arms you put around me.... the page fills...the design all our own.... unique, just as we are...our 'two-ness' joined together into one...and the explosion of colors on our page is glorious...how different each day/design is!

How different, but using the same vibrant colors.... so many shades.... so many ways to color our day with love.... and at the end of the day, we have a priceless drawing to offer one another.... the true beauty seen only by one another...for no matter how our design is outside the lines the world may have drawn for us...we color with the freedom only Jesus can give...for we know we are always 'inside' His lines!
