To my husband:
I remember making sand castles at the beach...and remembering them reminded me of how they are like our love...

They are all built on the seashore...and the seashore is like God...in that you could try and build your castle somewhere else, but it would not work...you would be too far from the things you need to create it...just as any relationship that is built on anything but God is lacking the source of renewal...but our love is on the seashore of God, and He makes His love as the endless grains of sand, an never-ending resource we can use to make our castle...

We can make the foundation of our castle out of that sand of love...for that is the best building material there is...the foundation can be large or small...depending on what we are expressing any given day...and on the tops of the castle walls are decorations, made from the same sand, but mixed with enough water to make almost a liquid...and to me the water is like grace...and it's source is never-ending too.... for it is the other element of the seashore.... the ocean.... so we mix the sand of love with the ocean of grace to make our decorations, slowly dropped on the top of our walls.....they make delicate towers and bridges......making the castle have a delicate and beautiful quality......and all around the castle we dig a moat.......and the same water of grace fills it.....keeping the entire castle separate and protected...and the most wonderful thing of all is that if our castle gets damaged in the building....or outside forces create holes or cracks in it......each night the water of grace will wash it all away, and the next day we can create a new castle, more beautiful than the last.....creating endless gifts to give to one another......the gift is the love that is behind the structure.....the endless resource that is only increased the more we give it away.
