To My Husband.

It is funny to me to read about all the famous folk, and how they entertain themselves.... and the most important things seem to be how much the clothes they are wearing cost, and how trendy a place that they go to, and the importance of who they are seen with...and I am struck with how very empty their lives are that it is necessary to fill them up with such artificial ‘show’...and I am equally struck with how all of this show does not make them happy or contented...and then I consider our lives, and our love, and I'm sure that in the eyes of the rich and famous, we live a ridiculously simple and unexciting life....but it's just that they have no idea of what really has meaning.....they don't know the sheer joy of sitting in a dark theater watching an exciting movie with the one you love....the reward is being with each other, not being seen by others....or the simple pleasure of working together in the same room, deriving comfort just because you are near.....it takes no artificial trappings to make this the 'in' thing to do.....the pleasure of being together while we work makes it an 'in' thing for us....for the value of a thing to us comes from within....not from the opinions of those who see us....the very best thing of all, that most of the rich and famous miss entirely....is that we both know that true riches and wealth comes from God, and He is the author of our love.....and we are filled with gratitude to Him for giving us the gift that is never done giving.......our love.
