To my husband.

I remember laying on the ground when I was a kid, just looking up in the night sky at all the stars.... and marveling that they were so far away, but that I could still see them so clearly...and then they faded into the background as the 4th of July fireworks started.....the boom of the launch, followed by the explosion of vivid color and design far overhead...and I think of our love.....our hours and days together are like the night sky...which God has provided as a backdrop .....and on this backdrop we hang our stars.... thousands of the larger ones of love.....and among them we hang twinkling lights of care and loving words and touches....the brightness of an unexpected small gift....all through the day we decorate our sky....tiny sparks of light giving life to the dark......and even when big, exciting events throw huge fireworks into the sky.....obscuring all behind the explosion of color and sound....behind it all is the night sky...for only against the backdrop of Jesus' love, like the soft darkness, can the true colors of those fireworks be seen and appreciated......and when the excitement of the fireworks has faded, the constancy of the little twinkling stars remind us of the important things....the things that last.....the small lights of which true happiness in made....
