I remember way back when I was a kid and took ice skating lessons...one of the things I had to learn to do was to spin.... there were all kinds of spins you could do on the ice, but before you could attempt the fancy stuff, you had to learn to do the basic one.... and that reminded me of us....

Most of skating is accomplished by using both feet.... but when it comes to most spins, the real work is only accomplished by one foot...just as in our lives, we are two people, but the real work in our relationship, in our lives, is accomplished when we are as one.... working in unison, toward the same goal...the foot on the ices appears to be doing all of the work, but the other one is there playing a vital, if mostly unseen role.... just as in our loving relationship, you are the leader, and I am playing the backup role....alongside and supporting your work....

When you learn to spin, you learn that starting out, your arms and the free foot are out flung, but the closer you bring them in toward your body, the faster you spin...andthat makes me think of how the closer we draw together, the quicker we are going along the path God has provided.... for in closeness, we can see and help one another...we areclose enough to touch, to love, to support, to be an anchor for one another...sharing all together, held close in the arms of our love....

The last thing you learn when you try to spin, is to find a spot to focus on...for if you let your eyes follow the action of your body, you will get dizzy from the motion.... but if you are focused on just one point...the motion becomes a blur, and the effects are not felt...so your spin stays in one spot, and you keep your balance.... and that makes me think of the most important thing about our relationship...we are focused on Jesus.... He is our 'looking spot' that keeps us upright and in the right place...

He steadies us and keeps the outside forces from affecting us.... our purpose remains clear, and the together-ness of our lives brings such joy and love, that we have life to REAL abundance.
