Christian Living
Back in 1999 I lived in Hollywood, Ca and during my studying, meditation, reading and listening to Christian radio I found the following on a piece of paper. I was keeping some late hours. I think I may have been reading a book written by a pyschologist who was a Roman Catholic. This may be my thoughts or notes from a book entitled Psychology As Religion" but I'm not certain.

We are told that as children...well for "Christianity the family is a small scale living embodiment of much of its theology. God the Father, Christ the Son, Mary the mother. All of us as children of God are prominent Biblical themes."
Isn't it interesting? When we say we are children it presupposes that we belong to a family does it not? And if we belong to a family we must first ask ourselves who is our father. As Christians our father is God the Father. Jehovah God and we are members of His family the family of God. We belong to the kingdom of light or the Kingdom of God ok and that is opposed to the kingdom of darkness or the kingdom of Satan. Now if we are children of darkness then our father is the devil ok we belong to that family the kingdom of Satan so we see we are either of Satan or of God.
In the natural realm we are children because we all have two parents-at least two parents-with the divorce rate the way it is today some of us have more than two parents but two biological parents, four biological grandparents and eight biological great grandparents. Now I was fortunate enough to be reared by my great grandmother and she took me when she was about fifty nine years old. I was the son she never had. She had three daughters and she doted on me, she loved me, she spoiled me. She did the best she could. I became a "hand full" real fast.
Judaism has a remarkably strong support for the family. We know this. Many have explained Jewish survival in terms of this reverence for family. Everywhere the social emphasis of the church is on integration and synthesis. All Christians are brothers and sisters as members of the mystical body of Christ represented on earth by the mother church. May we not then view an ideology which systematically denigrates or attacks the family by a structural analogy as a fierce attack upon Christianity?
