Encouragement

Life in the body of Christ is not always easy. For some of us life did not become difficult until we became Christians. Some people may be under the assumption that as soon as you get saved everything will be okay. That is absolutely not correct. We are enemies or should be enemies to worldliness, the flesh and the devil. When we were sinners, these enemies were our friends. Now as Christians, these foes want to become best buddies so to speak, and turn us away from Christ. There are many areas in the Christian life that are crucial to us. I believe that one of them is encouragement because some of us tend to sway.

We all need encouragement. Sometimes life throws us some of the toughest punches. Discouragement is not from God. It is weapon from the devil. Satan wants to throw us off course. The adversary is not going to lie down and let us walk down easy street. That is why we need to plant our roots in the word of God because our power comes from the word because the word is God. Luke 10:19 says “behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. Notice he did not say over some of the power but all the power of the enemy. We must begin to adopt the winner`s mentality and believe that we do have the victory over any of life`s situations.

We have to remind ourselves that although we may not be able to change a particular situation, we can change our attitude about it. That is a challenge for a lot of us. There will be days where you are not feeling peppy. Do not let those days turn into an issue that you will need deliverance from. In Church across America, Christians are in and out of the Church. This is a dangerous thing to do because Satan desires to sift us as wheat.

I believe it is better to go through trials and testing with God instead of without him. If you leave God and get back on those drugs or whatever, those demons will come back seven times worse than before. We are in a spiritual warfare where the battle is over your mind. See, your thoughts dictate and determine where you go in life.

In the book of Job, we see that job was obviously vexed because his family and riches were taken from him. He cursed his life and his friends reproved him etc, and came back to God in the end. We do not have to curse our lives because the price was paid at Calvary. Jesus became the curse for us.

Understand that you became a winner when you partnered with Christ. If there is one thing the devil cannot stand is a hardheaded Christian stuck on Jesus. If I feel discouraged or down I will listen to teaching tapes, exercise, read the bible or read a Christian book for example. There are many things you can do. Go for a walk, play a video game, talk to a brother or sister. The devil wants us to think that we are not having any fun and that the Christian life is boring. We have to learn to take our minds off of ourselves sometimes. It will not do us any good being stressed anyway. The God of our salvation is bigger than any problem we will ever encounter. As long as we are in Christ, there is hope in sight. Amen.
