You Are Accountable!

The Lord tells us in St. Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, go ye, into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” This scripture is also known as the great commission. You are accountable for the Gospel as a born again believer in Christ Jesus. When was the last time you gave someone a bible tract or left one behind somewhere? God did not save us for nothing. We are saved to tell the good news to others so they could be saved also. Whether you like it or not each Christian will be held accountable for what he or she does or does not do with the Gospel. So we need to be diligent and share it with as many as possible.

In St. John 17:15 Jesus prayed to the Father and said I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil”. God did not take us out of the world because he has a purpose in mind for every believer and part of it is to share the Gospel. God wants all of his children to come back home. So He wants to use us as the vessel to accomplish it. Look at verse 18 in St. John. Jesus says, “As thou has sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. We are disciples of Jesus Christ and he gave us his spirit to finish his work when he rose into the heaven to be honored on the right hand of God.

I live in New York City and I see Jehovah Witnesses in my area just about every week. They offer their literature persistently. They will even knock on your door! I am not fond of knocking on doors but I see their diligence and it ministers to me. I give tracts out and have even slipped them under doors. We are free because we know the truth and the truth must get out. We are accountable. Now there are believers how say that they are too busy for all of that, but it does not take much to give a tract or leave one behind somewhere daily.

We must begin to ask God for opportunities to witness his word and look for opportunities as well. Jesus said in Matthew 10:39, “Whosoever finds his life shall lose it”. If we are saved and do not tell others about Jesus it is like we are denying him and if we deny him he will deny us before the father (v. 32-33). Can you imagine loved ones going to hell because you did warn them? Do you know how sorry you would be?

I think a lot of us feel uncomfortable giving out tracts because we do not want to be seen by someone we know but we do not want to give them to people we do not know. I am not saying I give tracts to every single person, but I will increase my efforts to get them into more hands. The bible says that the angels rejoice over one soul that repents. Satan wants us to keep our mouths shut and keep our tracts in our pockets. He is afraid that someone will get saved and find out the truth. We are mouthpieces for Jesus Christ and will be held accountable. Amen.
