D-DAY REMEMBERED

It was 1944 a terrifying June morning
Allied commanders sending a warning
Brave soldiers awaited the world’s fate
Many sacrificed their life on that date
Our forces were put to death’s test
Fallen soldiers graves now attest.

The sea filled with a myriad of fighting ships
Nervous fighting men with prayers on their lips
Mounting their assigned landing crafts of steel
All packed tight, no where for them to kneel
It was the invasion of Normandy on D-Day
Prayers out load were heard they say.

As they landed on deaths lonely beach
Enemy guns from above did reach
Have to keep moving, keep praying
Don’t focus on killed men laying
Keep your wits and take your aim
This is war, you aren’t to blame.

On that dreary day the battle raged
Onward they pushed, enemy engaged
No stopping brave Allied Forces
Using courage and the souls resources
Under pressure the enemy gave way
The invasion Normandy on D-Day.

Not many of our brave are still alive today
Most who fought in forty-four passed away
But for those who are and their family
We need to give remembrance thankfully
It was a war the world evened the score.
Their lives brought an end to world war.

A special national day should be set aside
On that day like non other good men died
They stood up a fought an evil enemy
A mere mention by leaders is a blasphemy
Brave men changed the world that day
The invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
