WEDDING BELL BLUES

I have the wedding bell blues you know
I never seem to get invited to weddings
These people are my friends after all
It would be nice if just once I got to go.

There are a lot of people who I thought friends
I work with them and help them when they call
They stop by and borrow my tools and more
Maybe I should talk to them and make amends.

I know I don’t drink or party like them
Gossiping or plotting I don’t do either
Heck I don’t even use bad language
I don’t judge others or do I condemn.

More wedding invitations went out today
Another friend at work is getting married
My brother has been selected to be best man
No invitation for me, maybe another day.

I went home wondering why not me
When I heard a knock on my door
I opened it and there stood a man
I wonder who this guy could be.

May I help you I said to the man
Yes, will you come to my wedding
Why me, I almost fell to the floor
He said it was part of the grand plan.

I don’t know you I said to the stranger
It’s ok he said, I will make it easy for you
All you have to do is invite me in
After that you won‘t be a stranger.

Will all of my other friends be there, I asked
No this invitation is only for you, he said
But all my friends attend the weddings
I asked them but all of them passed.

I came all this way just to say I want you
This is a wedding feast in heaven above
I’m the Groom and you are part of my bride
Those who miss out will be wedding bell blue.
