CRUCIFIXTION

Here is the story I was told
More than 2000 years of old
Me did God want to hold
For my sins Jesus was humbled and sold

God the world He so loved
He became flesh and left heaven above
God’s plan did Jesus now speak of
The Spirit of the Father descended on Him like a dove.

Religious leaders did have Him arrested
To repent and be born again they did contest
At Pilot’s court being God’s Son did He confess
Brought to the people, crucify Him shouted their protest.

Mocked, bloodied, and broken
He was to pay the price as God’s love token
Forced to Golgotha did He carry cross wooden
These things were foretold by prophets spoken

On this cross He was so nailed
With spear his heart was impaled
History now has His life and death detailed
This is the price God paid-Sin and separation now curtailed.

Yes, “God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
