When I was a teenager I had the privilege of being taught to play the piano by my pastor's wife Mrs. Ada Doolittle. Mrs. Doolittle was the wife of my Pastor John Doolittle.

I grew up in a small Baptist church in Stockton, California (a GARB) called Faith Baptist Church which was located on Cherokee Rd just down the street from where I grew up.

Visiting my home town several years ago I noticed that the old building where the church gathered was torn down and something new was built but I can't recall exactly what at the moment. That church building was probably built around the 1940's but I have fond memories of my early days of professing Christianity where I faithfully attended and learned many important truths from God's word the Bible.

Along with learning the Bible and its many doctrines I learned how to play the piano. Mrs Doolittle taught me and another guy named Rick Short (funny last name for a guy who towered over me) how to play so sight read. We both practiced out of the Michael Aaron and John Thompson Piano books as well as practiced
various hymns.

As I was learning to play simple classical and folklore type piano pieces I experimented with the various notes and sounds on the church's grand piano and came up with a little melody and words, which as I now recall, were not particularly christian but were more like something you would hear from a from Roger's and Hammerstein or Learner and Lowe musical.

Unfortunately I do not have the melody in musical format for you to play if you should happen to play the piano or another musical instrument but I will leave you the few words that came into my head one day (and that I still recall) as I was playing and thinking about music.

Music is one of the small talents that God has given me and so I wish to write these lyrics down now to have them published in what might be called a "poor man's copywrite". Hopefully, I shall always be able to find them from this website.

That's it. There is not much to it but a little melody that still rings in my brain and these few words but I wanted to share them with you and encourage you that love music to write down your words and try to have your melodies (if you have one) put into musical notation so they can be played by a sight reading pianist.
