We mortal beggars are but dust
flug into time and space we lust
careless for the solemn trust
no repentance so we bust.

Proud and swollen is our stead
puffed up like an adder's head
Sinners stubborn foolish and brave
march through time to the darkened grave.

Warnings often heard from afar
sermons, songs, and events bizzare
all are spent for peddlers fare
what's the gain, an empty stare?

None but God's own chosen race
can avail themselves of grace
Bless'd be the Lord that it is so
Jesus Christ doth make us to know.

His grace endures and does preserve
no entrance we to heav'n deserve
God's glory, honor is our trust
for mortal beggars are but dust.
