Forever
(The gift of marriage)

Hidden in front of me
Prevented by the callousness of my own heart
Caught in the net of worthless searching and endless angst
Choice was abandoned as I walked away
Desire is a fool’s game, falsifying need for want
Dare I say, “I love you” to another
Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks
But how can you speak of love when your heart is tainted
Scorched in the flame of selfish reside
Emotion was all I was capable of
Intimacy void of touch foreign to my cause
So deficient was my goal that absence was my unavoidable outcome
But now God has made His voice clear
And He shines a light through her that gently guides me to her side
The steady warmth of this cannot be mistaken, nor would I dare to appease
My Lord, I know your hand, and I distinguish your touch
Thank you has left my lips as praise to you many times
However those words seem stale in the face of such valuable beauty
Such worth of which I could not attain
I love because you first loved me, so I take that love and pass it on
I will not discard the gift of choice this time
I will not abandon sight
As you have chosen me Lord, I will choose her
Completely and in completeness
As you are faithful Lord, in you shall I be faithful to her
Only and of uniqueness
As I am married to you, so will she be to me
And brides we both shall be
At the wedding banquet and of the bridegroom
As yours is forever, so will mine be
As you love me, I will love her
In love
In your Son
Forever us
In Christ as one
