The Body

I struggle to go on, but my body is broken
I try to run, but have no feet
I yearn to stand but my legs are too weak
I reach out with my arms, but my hands have gone away
My shoulders are limp
My back has given up
Yet my head stands firm upon my neck
Wisdom always by it’s side
Knowledge as treasure hidden within
And so it goes on
A withering body, too proud and envious to acknowledge its parts
Too greedy to labor together
Too conversant in itself to see it’s own ignorance
Or else it could look up and be healed
How distant is sight when brokenness will not remain within something already saved?
Already raised?
And so it continues
With disregard to functionality
Without so much as gesture
Disjointed in decision & estranged by beguiles
We dredge forward in neglect
To whom may we recognize default?
Since our summit is now our underside
Choice since defeated by the weight of our heels
Unaware we have trampled upon our own eyes
Tirelessly refusing to hesitate
Crushing decapitation
Unidentified derivation of our sightlessness
Determination was not meant to be ours
The burden of purpose un-jarred

My body, I cry out to you
Our head is our Rock
Let us stand together on what is above
Conjoining with our body in which He is the blood
One in Spirit as the Lord is One
We are one
We are one in Him
