Cousin John to photographer -- "These pictures are awful. They
make me look like a hippopatamus." Photographer: "You should
have thought of that before you had them taken."

Many of today's cameras have automatic focus. That means you
simply aim the camera and the camera automatically adjusts the
lens for correct focus for the distance between lens and subject. It
takes all the guesswork out of getting sharp pictures.

God's Word has no auto-focus facility. The reader has to con-
centrate and focus in on what is being read. Our problem is that in
this world of auto everything we want someone else like a tele-
vangelist to pre-digest it for us. Unless we are spiritually mature,
we are at the mercy of the speaker to hopefully provide accurate
truth.

God's Word is meant to be aimed at you. If you always allow
someone else to do the focusing, you may get a blurry picture of
what God really wants you to know. As much as possible, do your
own focusing and use other reliable sources to fine tune the
focusing for you.

Psalm 119:7 (nlt), "May all who fear you find in me a cause for
joy, for I have put my hope in your word." When you are grounded
in God's Word, you will be a source of joy and blessing to others.
