The Gates of Hell shall not prevail
nor hold for long the dead,
for passing through with wind blown sail
the Spirit's quick'ning head.


And like a thund'rous roar and shout
the abled saints rejoice!
Quick spring they from the mortal route
to hear their Saviour's voice!


Well done thou good and faithful one
my Lord did say to me,
now cast thy crowns upon my Son
and sing a new song thee.


God's wond'rous works were wrought within
no merit did we boast,
all praise and glory did descend
upon the heav'nly host.


So death is swallowed up and lost
forever in the lake
both soul and body were destroyed
His justice no mistake.
