The Master Gardener

The Lord is the Master Gardener
He has the Master Plan,
He is the vine, I am the branch
my life is in His hands.

As dead and diseased parts
of a branch are trimmed,
the life of the branch is extended
protecting growth and structure within.

As the Master Gardener
He works in me each day,
through the circumstances of my life
showing me the way.

I do not always understand
how He works in me,
and struggle to hold on to
the way I want things to be.

Many times I wonder -
What does He have in mind?
“Where are you in this process?”
I ask Him many times.

He answers me in the silence,
in the quiet of my heart,
teaching me to trust Him more
and let go of any blocks.

It’s only when I see the results
of what he pruned in me,
that I can understand the reason
why it was meant to be.

In surrendering all to Him
burdens are lifted and I’m free,
free of all that holds me bound,
free to receive His joy in me.
