While browsing through a pile of notes, sayings and other such, I came across a little saying that I saw on Dave Pitcher's Facebook. I had sent the note to the late Greg Wallace, a Christian man who went to be with the Lord at a very young age. While Greg lived he influenced many young and not a few older people.

"Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway."

People have often asked, "Do I sing because I'm happy or am I happy because I sing?" Actually both ideas are true and most churches know this. If we only had a good song service because came to Sunday Morning services happy we would be drowning in dreariness. We know and for the most part insist that the leaders of the service get happy, joyous or whatever term you use. This is done to lift the spirit of the singers up and thus the tone of the service. One of the reasons is because so many preachers are boring beyond description and could lift a flea to a higher level. No you know why I want lively singing.

Paul gave instructions along this line in Ephesians 5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;" when this verse is taken to heart within the context you are on your way to a day of uplifted living. Hans Christian Anderson wrote: "When words fail, music speaks."
