Someone once said, "A politician is concerned about the next
election, but a statesman is concerned about the next generation."

Won't you be glad when the elections are over and we can go back
to listening to pill commercials instead of having our ears plagued
with the political ads with each side lying and saying nasty things
about the other? If you believe all the political ads, then no matter
whom we elect, we are electing a dishonest jerk. I don't believe
that! It may seem like it at times, but not all politicians are untrust-
worthy. Political ads have gotten out of hand -- it's disgusting.

Here in Florida, one of our candidates for governor is proposing
lots of new spending and intending to raise the money for it by
raising cigarette taxes by 50 cents per pack. If I were a smoker, I
would be up in arms, because it's a disproportionate tax. You are
forcing a small percentage of the population to pay for the whole
increase. Those of us who don't smoke will be getting a free ride.

Unfortunately, our churches are like that. Usually, a small per-
centage of the members do most of the work and probably carry
most of the financial load. A certain segment of every cong-
regation is getting a free ride. T'ain't fair! Think of how much
more effective the work of your church could be if everyone
carried their fair share of the load.

In John 4:34 (nlt), Jesus said, "...my nourishment comes from
doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing His work."
What would happen in your church if every member caught that
same vision?
