How to drive a man bonkers -- take the batteries out of all the
remotes in the house.

The maker of Famous Amos cookies says success comes in a can --
"I can." He was right on target. It's called determination. My Dad
used to call it gumption. Whatever it is, we all need a good dose of
it to accomplish anything in life.

Whether we are Christians or not, we need stick-toitiveness if we
are going to be a success at whatever we attempt. Christianity is not
a substitute for determination -- it is an adjunct to it. You can't sit
back and say I'll turn it over to the Lord and sit around and wait for
things to happen. Good things happen to people who make them
happen. Having the Lord on your side is an important asset but not
a substitute for hard work.

The successful pastor is the one who really works at it. Likewise
with salesmen, doctors, and whatever you name. Famous Amos' "I
can" attitude can make the difference between success or failure for
you if you apply it.

Ecc. 9:10 (niv), "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all
your might..." That advice has worked for thousands of years, and
it's just as viable as if it were in today's newspaper. Most people
want to accomplish things to make their parents proud. Wouldn't
you want to do the same for your heavenly Father? Work at it!
