THE CONTEMPLATIVES
Do you ever take notice of the natives?
Is there among them a contemplative?
Tis terrible trouble to disturb one
Least he burn the village and then some.
They judge not what they survey
Yet they hoard visions of a designated day
Might they tally our trysts with worldliness?
And is there anything less our business?
Is gentle contempt just their nature?
Or is it born of something even more assure?
Watch one as he stands out in the rain
You will see he bears the mark of Cain.
From Plato to Play-Dough, they saunter with ease,
Leaving you to wonder if it is a disease
They seem destined never to mate
And entice you also to contemplate.
