Have you ever walked into the beauty salon to get your hair done, and the person scheduled to do your hair looks like they should be sitting in the chair? What about going the barber shop and the barber’s edge-up looks like it belong on someone else’s head? Or, how about going to get a manicure, and the nail technician looks like she ate her nails for lunch? Here’s my favorite; you hire a professional to assist you with something, and they show up to do the job looking like they just rolled up out of bed with the weight of the world on their shoulders? Don’t get me wrong. This blog is not to judge anyone; only to offer some words of encouragement; something that should help anyone who reads this.

Let me first explain what I mean by ‘looking the part’. It is very important to physically carry yourself well because that's the first impression most people will take in of you. However, this doesn’t just apply to how we “physically” carry ourselves, but, more importantly, how we mentally-emotionally-spiritually carry ourselves. Let’s face it; we can put on our best outfit, with our best hair-do, and look like a million bucks. But, as soon as some one looks us in the eyes and see our pain, or we open our mouths, we quickly diminish down to a five dollar bill because we're cursing, ranting and raving, and carrying around evil thoughts because of something that we're going through.

However, if we put on a nice, clean outfit, have our hair together, our attitude is good, and we're spiritually grounded, then no one can see beyond that…no one can see through us, and take advantage of our circumstances. No one would be able to tell that I may have found out I just lost my job, or my home. No one would be able to tell that there are problems at home, or health problems on my mind. Don’t get me wrong…there’s nothing wrong with going through some stuff, that's part of our growth. But, should everyone else be able to detect what we’re going through? If I choose to confide in someone regarding something, it should be because I chose to, not because they could figure it out. Besides, a lot of what we go through is a product of what we created, so why not make that product something positive that could benefit your life or someone else’s…MAKE THE BEST OF IT.

Have you ever heard the saying, “You cannot solve the problems that are created, with the same thinking that created the problems”? Bottom line is; walking around looking bad, because you’re feeling bad, is not going to help you. If anything, it’s going to make the problem/situation seem so much worse than what it is. Instead, hold your head up. Put on a smile (a good friend of mine is always posting on this on Facebook, “Give someone a smile…it’s free), and let the world know that nothing can stop you…nothing can hurt you, and nothing can prevent you from living a prosperous life (unless you allow it, and let it in).

Remember, most people will not navigate away from you if you’re going through something; however, they will abandon you if you always seem like you are. No one wants to constantly carry around someone else’s baggage; especially, if it is hindering their growth.

You need to wake up every morning, recognizing your blessings, and thanking God for yet another day. By doing that, you’ll learn to look the part; just trust in Him.
