Encouragement

This past Saturday I went on a job interview at a local coffeehouse. The manager told me that I probably won't be needed at that location but she knows of another one that will fit my schedule and if there are job openings there, I could be hired. I was a little discouraged upon hearing this because I applied for several jobs and received few responses. Although I prayed for God's will to be done in this situation, I still don't know what will happen next. I'm trusting God's direction.

As college students and even recent graduates, we can easily be discouraged about finding work, especially in a time when the economy hasn't been the same since 9/11 and that college students will face an uncertain job market. But God is greater than those circumstances. In Romans 8:28 it says that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. It doesn't mean that God will always take our problems away but He will bring us through tough circumstances. Sometimes the job we want is not the one God wants for us. We may think this job will offer us a high salary and social status but if we're not using our talents or glorifying God at this job, we're really not satisfied.

To those who are unemployed, it's not over for you. God has a plan for your life and He will provide a way for you to support your family.
