He (Moses) stood at the entrance to the camp and shouted, "All of you who are on the Lord's side, come over and join me."Exodus 32:26 (New Living Translation).


Moses was up in the mountain for so long that the children of Israel didn't know what happened to him. Their mediator (Acts 7:38) was gone (so they thought). So instead of waiting for Moses, they took matters into their own hands and asked Aaron to make them a god of gold (Exodus chapters 31 & 32).

Exodus 32:1 teaches us a very important lesson on waiting.

If we refuse to wait on the Lord until he returns, He'll come when we least expect it(Matthew 25:1-13). In this case it was Moses that came back when they least expected it.
And you can bet he wasn't too happy with what he saw.

A lot of people get discouraged waiting on the Lord. There are many reasons why someone turns away from God and no longer follow Him, but the three main ones are:

1) Matthew 13:19

2) Matthew 13:20-21

3) Matthew 13:22

We battle the flesh everyday (Galatians 5:16-26; Romans 7:14-25). But we must always remember, when we are weak he is strong (Philippians 4:13, 2 Corinthians 12:9; 13:4).

We all sin. There's no way around it. It's our nature. But when we do, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (John 1:9 King James Version).
But that's only if we mean it with great sincerity. Doesn't mean we won't sin again, but it does show God that you're doing the best you can to please Him. Remember "Faith without works is dead"(James 2:26). Meaning that if you say you're a Christian, and yet continue living in sin, then your faith means nothing ("It's dead"). You can't tell someone about God and tell them how God wants them to live when you are living in a way that displeases God (Matthew 23:1-3 King James Version).

James 1:22 tells us: "Don't just listen to the word. You fool yourselves if you do that. You must do what it says (New International Readers Version).


Paul says in 1 Corinthians:

"When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understand as a child, I thought as a child: But when I became a man, I put away childish things." (1 Corinthians 13:11 King James Version)

Reading this verse literally, the verse is self explanatory. But the same rule also applies to sin.

Picture this:

Your standing in a room and it's divided in half by a line. On one side is Jesus and on the other side is us. Jesus' side of the room is covered in glorious light, while our side is covered in darkness. The darkness of course represents our sins. When we confess our sins and accept Jesus into our lives, He reaches into the darkness and pulls us out.

The minute we accepted Christ, He began to clean us up from the inside out. As this is happening, we become a new person (2 Corinthians 5:17 New Living translation). We put away our former things(childish "Sinful" things). Our desire is now in the Lord and not in the things we used to do. This isn't an overnight process, it's life long. That's why we need to continually come
to God and seek his help.

So I ask you. Where do you stand? Will you be like the seed that fell among the thorns; and allow the cares of this world choke the word out of you (Mark 4:18-19)? Or will you stand firm in the faith (1 Corinthians 16:13; Galatians 5:1)?



Heavenly Father,

Every Day presents new trials. But we know that when we are weak, you are strong (2 Corinthians 12:9). We can't thank you enough for your undeserved loving kindness. You saw good in us when no one else did and called us to a holy life (2 Timothy 1:9). We'll forever be grateful for that. Thank you Heavenly Father.
