Time goes fast when your having fun
things are waiting, in the wings and not a few
so the next thing you know you got to run
for you have so much to do

After a chat here and there, on the phone
a drop in guest appearing from nowhere
Then a chore left undo, from way back when
in wonder does life ever, play fair

But you find yourself sorting through the rubble
hoping not to leave anything out
Checking over the list so nothing you'll miss
trying to be that master scout

Those little things you do to fill the corners
of life's little empty spaces
And no holding to, the bad that popped up
but, to wipe away all traces

I picked up a book or two to read awhile
and fed, the pets in the backyard
Then not enough, so I clicked on the computer
and begin to create a greeting card

Try to work at your self-esteem with a vigor
think something new even on a busy day
Fill in a few antidotes in those idle hours
and it will, reward you, a good pay

And as I watched the sun slowly going down
it's rays smiling at me so bright
And I must admit, I enjoyed it's warmth
and my days end turned out all right
