The thing that we mostly forget to
do when reading the Bible is ask
ourselves the question, "what has
this got to do with me?" I will
mention 2 major events that
happened in the old and new testaments and try and see how we
ought to respond to them.
Firstly we will look at the genesis of
things, the beginning of the world.
God created a perfect world with
perfect creatures. He also created perfect Adam and eve. But in
Genesis 3 we see the fall of man and
the coming in of sin and the
corruption of the whole world. You
may ask a question saying what has
all this got to do with me? How should I respond to this. Firstly you
must accept the fact that you were
born a sinner and that you are a
fallen individual as a result of Adam
and eve's disobedience. You must
also be sure that you are on your way to hell as a result of your sin
that you keep holding on to. Like
gravity drags objects to the centre
of the earth, so it is with sin which
drags every sinner to Hell. But is
there hope for sinners like you and me? The next point will answer
that question.
Secondly we go to the new
testament. We go back about 2000
years when God came to earth in
the person of Jesus Christ who was born a virgin birth concieved by the
holy spirit through Mary hence
becoming the "Seed of the
woman"(Genesis 3:15).
He lived for 30 plus years and was
tempted in every way yet did not sin. He kept the 10 commandments
perfectly. Why did he come? He
came to save you from sin, to create
peace between you and God. He
died on a cruel cross because of
your sins. He was buried and was raised to life on the third day. He
ascended into heaven and sat down
at the right hand of God the Father
and now He intercedes for men(1
timothy 2:5). He is preparing a place
for the believers and one day He's coming back to judge the world and
reward accordingly. There is hope.
Whats your response to all this. Will
you reject this great saviour or will
you come? I urge you to go to Him
with all your filth and confess and repent and ask him to give you a
new heart, a new spirit. Ask him to
forgive you of all your sins. Ask Him
to save you from Hell. He has
promised to give you eternal life.
Please do not reject this offer from God. Its not an option, its a command.
Don't disobey please. I
