The Unknown God

Acts 17:23 “For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions,
I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.
Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.” (KJV)

Athens was religious and that’s without a doubt.
One altar read, “The Unknown God” in case they left one out.
That is where we’ve come today from sinful seeds we’ve sown.
Our worship has been given to a fraud that is unknown.

Unknown for life and blessing, for pleasure is our goal.
Unknown for our salvation, or who died to save our soul.
We know “American Idol” and the winning baseball team.
These we know so very well and hold them in esteem.

Jehovah is the Unknown God in America today.
The knowledge of the Son of God has all but passed away.
Rome gave bread and circuses, which led to their decline.
Their minds were fixed on pleasure and away from the Devine.

Do you see that happening to the nation we live in?
We’re entertained by harlots who practice every sin.
Our children idolize them and follow in their ways.
Christ warned us that this very thing would mark the end of days.

Are you blinded by earth’s pleasures that only last a while?
Or deceived by Satan lies that are filled with evil guile?
Give your heart to Jesus and welcome the Savior in.
He promised you forgiveness and to cleanse your heart from sin.

Matthew 24:37-39 “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving
in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and
took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (KJV)
