We forgive as we're forgiven,
   dead to sin, we're alive in Him.
We cast off the trace of every offense,
   granting God's mercy, from here e'er hence.
Our love covers so much sin
   Jesus we mimic, so pleasing Him.
We keep no record of any wrong;
   the love of the Christ is our song.

We choose to lose, gaining our brother
   by grace unearthly, joy like no other.
Surely our Father delights in His mercy
   for all of His children have thus come to see.
We know the joy in forgiveness,
   receiving and giving, as God is our witness.
Watch, world, and wonder, we are so alien.
   We know God's thunder, yet we are born again.

Every soul needs such holy pardon,
   no matter the person, or heart how hardened.
As Christ is the Way, the Truth and Life,
   we cut off judgment with His righteous knife.
Now see this facet of the holy Jewel,
   call us what you want. We're Christ's holy fools.
It's by this love we're know as His own
   testified from our heart, where His word is sown.

Come find your brother. Leave your gift at the altar.
Be reconciled to him, like you he's faltered.
Be his needed legs. Help him stand up.
Refresh him, please, with Salvation's cup.
Free the prisoner, as you've been freed.
With him the soil, you be the seed.
Return to the altar and offer your gift.
   praising the Son for healing that rift.

Seeing forgiveness as an evangelistic tool..

Also, forgiveness as the needed thing to maintain church unity, hence the "We."
