Great caution has to be taken to pre-empt a situation whereby any one of you who have been given the great promise of entering into God’s rest should miss the fulfilment of the promise. For just as we have heard this good news, so also did they hear it too but it was of no gain to them for it withered in the absence if faith within them. We have entered into His rest for we have believed but in His indignation, He swore ‘they will never enter My rest’.

There is definitely a rest of God you remember somewhere in the Holy Scriptures (Gen2 vs.2-3) it was said that on the seventh day God rested from all His works and yet in some other portion,He said they will not experience His rest. They were not able to go into His rest because they were against God’s orders; hence the promise remains unfulfilled.

Now the promise still stands and it is again renewed today but we must heed the warning the Psalmist David gave to us Hebrew 3:15 he said; ‘Today if you hear my voice don’t turn a deaf ear’. Yes this ‘rest’ promise is alive; no it didn’t die with the faithless assembly nor has it being fulfilled. He has not yet given them the rest or else there won’t still be a ‘today’. Therefore there is still a ‘rest’ promise for God’s people at the instance of which all works seize. Hence let us keep this ‘rest’ in focus and not trail the path of those who drop out and work against God’s orders in (some kind of) disobedience. For when God speaks He means it and what He says holds. His words are more powerful than the sharpest blade for it cuts through all a blade can’t; through doubts and fears, defenses and sceptism, unbelief and every secret desires lurking within, seeing through the thought and intents of every heart, laying us open to listen and obey. Before God, all things are bare and nothing can simply get away from our High Priest.

Jesus is our great High Priest with the freeway access to the Father; let us now therefore take full advantage of this. For we do not have a High Priest who is unreasonable and unempathizing for He is well experienced in our ways but void of our faults and shortcomings. Let us use this free access to the Father for there mercy is given and grace is found when they are needed the most even if you have missed the promise it is still Today.
