? What does it mean, “You must be born again.”


There are reasons that we say that “You must be born again.” The chief reason is that it is what Jesus said.

It seems difficult to really understand this saying because we do not accurately understand that the true life of our “being” is one that we have never seen with our eyes.

When you or I look into the mirror we see ourselves, right? Not altogether right. What we see is the clay house inside of which we live, temporarily, on this earth. The real you or me we have never seen in the mirror.

We are not a mystery to ourselves because we know ourselves. In fact without us inside this house of clay, the clay house could not move, think, or continue to function. The real person is alive forever, somewhere. That “real us” never dies.

It is the “inside us” that needs rebirth and that is the “real us” to which Jesus referred when He said, “You must be born again.”

“Again?” Again, that says that originally there was a life and a death. That is the truth.

Our first ancestors Adam and Eve were spiritually alive, but when they chose to disobey God, it happened to them as God had told them it would, they died a spiritual death.

That act of theirs is also the reason that we have physical death as a fact of nature. Now you and I, as their offspring are alive in soul and body but dead in the spirit, and without the spirit being alive, the soul and body are not fit for living in Heaven with God forever.

Unfortunately for us, there is a place called Hell that was never prepared for us, it was prepared for Satan and the Angels that followed him in insurrection against God.

But if we refuse the Salvation that God has provided for us for being “born again” then we are advised in Scripture that we have chosen to go the that Place, but we do not really desire to do that. Jesus believed there was a Hell, He said, “Fear not them that only destroy the body, but rather fear Him Who can destroy both body and soul in Hell.” Jesus warned of Hell more often than He spoke of Heaven.

Therefore our only option is to choose life and rebirth by receiving Jesus as our Savior and believing that His blood cleanses us from all sin; we are then “reborn” by the entrance of the Holy Spirit of God, entering into our spirits and rebirthing us with the life of God. That is what it means to be “born again.”

Since, “It is appointed unto man once to die and after this, the judgement.”
AND
Since “ALL have sinned and come short of the required perfection of God,” and because, “The wages of sin is death BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord,” and because Jesus Himself said, “I am The Way, The Truth and The Life and no man comes to the Father except by Me,” we then must take action and confess that we are sinners and do need a Savior, because no amount of our good works can satisfy God's requirements of a Blood Offering for sin.

Our own blood is sinful and cannot suffice. God knew this and so because, “God so loved the World He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” “For God sent not His Son into the World to condemn the World, but that the World through Him might be saved,” and because Jesus said, “I am the light of the World: he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” We then need to, and must, make a choice for this rebirth according to the Plan Providers Requirements. We may not select the method.

Jesus says in the Book of the Revelation, “Look! I am standing at the door (of your heart) knocking, if any one hears My voice and opens the door to Me, I will come in and live with him and He with Me.”

Salvation comes to us through:

A: acknowledging that we are in fact one who has sinned.

B: believing that Jesus is the Christ provided by God for the taking away of our sins.

C: confession of that belief with our mouths, while believing in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead. We do not follow a dead Jesus. He is very much alive.

Then it follows that this is the confidence that we have assured to us by the words of Jesus Himself, “Any one who comes to Me I will in no wise turn away from the doors, of Heaven or from Me.”

Jesus said also, “Come unto me all you who are working so hard and are heavily burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, (get into the harness with Me,) and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls.”

“You must be born again.” It is a choice. God provides it and desires with His heart that you and I will accept His free gift, but He will not force any one of us. It is your choice. It is my choice. Each of us must decide for ourselves.

Will you choose salvation and a life in Heaven with Jesus now?

What should you say if you do so choose to receive Him as Savior?

Something like this is a prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I believe that You are the Savior, for Your blood covers my sins before the Father, I receive You right now to come into my heart and life and save me. I do believe that You are alive, and I wish to live forever in Heaven with You and never to go to Hell.” Thank you for coming into my heart and life. In Your Name I pray, Amen.”

That is the rebirthing process. “You MUST be born again.”
